Newton, MA – April 30, 2025Sonesta International Hotels Corporation (Sonesta) has announced the extension of its Master Franchise Agreement with GHL Hoteles (GHL) through 2034, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Latin America and securing growth opportunities across Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina.

The renewed deal ensures that most of Sonesta’s brands—from economy to upscale—will continue to be developed and franchised in these key markets under GHL’s management. This extension underscores Sonesta’s momentum in the region and reflects a shared vision of expanding through conversions and new-build projects.

Expanding Footprint in Latin America

Sonesta has been present in the region since 1998, when it debuted with the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar in Lima, Peru. Since then, the company has partnered closely with GHL, one of Latin America’s most respected hospitality leaders, to expand its portfolio.

Currently, GHL manages 14 Sonesta properties across the continent:

  • Colombia: 7 hotels
  • Peru: 5 hotels
  • Ecuador: 1 hotel
  • Chile: 1 hotel

The partnership continues to show results, with the Sonesta Hotel Miraflores in Lima set to open in summer 2025, further strengthening Sonesta’s presence in Peru’s capital.
